March 10th, 2018 marked my 10 year anniversary as a Mozilla volunteer. I wanted to write this blog post for quite some time now, but as you might know, writing is not one of my capabilities I’m exercising a lot. With this blog post I’d like to give a quick wrap up of the past 10 years and share the story on how I came to Mozilla. Upfront I’d like to thank everyone who made this journey as amazing as it was, to many more years!

Mozilla's Participation Team has started to do "mid-term plannings" with a few focus communities back in September. The goal was to identify potential and goals for a six month plan which would then be implemented with the help of all the community. Since Germany is one of the focus markets for Firefox, it's clear that the German-speaking community was part of that as well.

On the 8th of November (yes, 2 days before #fx10), we met in Zurich to provide a tea booth for protesters. There is a new law coming up in Switzerland which would negatively influence everybody's privacy, which was the reason for the protest. A few days before the event I asked Martin and Gion-Andri from the Swiss community if they'd like to help out with the tea since two other members couldn't make it that day. Fortunately they said yes and did a great job!

Tabs-on-Top

2010-04-18 at 21:30:48

Currently there is a discussion about the Tabs-on-Top feature in the mozilla.dev.apps.firefox newsgroup. Tabs-on-tops has been pushed to the nightly (trunk) development branch of firefox on April 6th 2010. Pretty much every new feature introduced to Firefox leads to a more or less active discussion but this time it is very important to find the right decision since this is a major change in the front UI. Of course there will never be an agreement because GUIs are still a matter of subjective. Now the FF UI design team needs to find a decision which is best for most of the users.
